Trio Barclay is one of today’s most innovative chamber ensembles. As the Ensemble-in-Residence at the Irvine Barclay Theatre—the first group ever appointed to this role in the institution’s history—the trio has earned international recognition for its artistic excellence, commitment to contemporary music, and dynamic concert activity at major venues and festivals around the world.
Each member brings an exceptional career to the ensemble:
Dennis Kim (violin) – Concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Musicand the Yale School of Music. He has held leadership positions with prominent orchestras across North America, Europe, and Asia, establishing himself as one of the most respected violinists of his generation.
Jonah Kim (cello) – Made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of 12 and has since built an internationally acclaimed career. His recordings have been praised by leading publications such as The Strad and Gramophone for their exceptional artistry, musical depth, and technical brilliance.
Sean Kennard (piano) – Laureate of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium and First Prize winner of the Dr. Luis Sigall International Piano Competition. He enjoys an acclaimed international career as both a soloist and chamber musician, performing throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

In this special performance, Trio Barclay presents music from its latest album, Beyond the Pacific, a project that explores the richness of contemporary piano trio repertoire while celebrating the cultural dialogue between East and West through the voices of leading American composers.

Michael Fine – Piano Trio No. 2 “California”
John Wineglass – Piano Trio No. 2 “Orcas Island” (by the multiple Emmy Award-winning composer)
Together, these works offer a compelling musical journey, blending lyricism, innovation, and evocative soundscapes inspired by the Pacific coast.
