Afro-Cuban jazz meets Persian tradition, flamenco, and contemporary jazz.

Cuban pianist Chuchito Valdés, a 7-time Latin GRAMMY nominee, joins Persian-Canadian composer and multi-instrumentalist Nader Khaledi for Crossed Roots (Raíces Cruzadas)—an intimate musical encounter where cultures meet through jazz and improvisation.

Son of legendary pianist Chucho Valdés and grandson of Bebo Valdés, Chuchito carries forward one of the most influential musical legacies in Cuban jazz while bringing his own powerful voice, rhythm, and improvisational style to the piano.

After previously sharing the stage at San Miguel de Allende’s Teatro Ángela Peralta, Valdés and Khaledi reunite to take their musical dialogue further. Afro-Cuban piano, flamenco guitar, Persian percussion, and double bass come together in a performance that moves freely across traditions and borders.

In the intimate setting of Foro El Obraje, Crossed Roots invites audiences to experience jazz as a meeting point between cultures—spontaneous, vibrant, and deeply rooted.
