Acclaimed Global Artists Debut Live Painting Series for International Women’s Day 2026
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, has become a global center for international arts innovation, blending Mexico’s renowned artistry with creativity from around the world.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, acclaimed cultural anthropologist, philanthropist, and singer-songwriter Dr. Jacqueline “Bouvier” Copeland (known in concert by her stage name, “Bouvier”) is launching a new artistic initiative, Living Arts, an interdisciplinary project designed to immerse communities in the healing power of the arts.
Making its debut in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, this Living Arts concert will feature live painting by virtuoso Claudia Pérez Pavón, who will visually interpret Bouvier’s musical stories about the universal struggles and triumphs of women. As the first in an ongoing series of live arts performances, future Living Arts concerts may combine music, sculpture, dance, fashion, or other disciplines to create an unprecedented multisensory, immersive creative experience.
Pavón and Copeland will be joined by some of the region’s finest instrumentalists: Osmar Aquino (piano), Carlos de Aguinaldo (drums), Rubén Olvera (bass), and Sekou Conte (kora and djembe), for an inspiring evening of transformative arts. The evening will include a reception and conversation with the artists.
According to Living Arts founder and curator Dr. Copeland, the arts play a unique role in helping communities experience beauty, joy, connection, and healing during stressful times. “My hope is that by fusing different art forms into a singular, immersive experience, we will uplift the audience’s spirit and build new community bonds.”
The evening’s genre-blending music and painting will include blues, jazz, soul, pop, bolero, rock, salsa, and samba, highlighting both the rich diversity and unity of global creativity.
For Living Arts producer Luis Eduardo Quezada of UnShow Arts, “We are honored to contribute our technical and marketing expertise to the Living Arts experience. It will bring new live artistic experiences to the San Miguel region, attracting some of the world’s and the region’s finest creative talents.”
Ms. Pavón adds, “I am incredibly excited to bring the visual arts to the concert stage. Live painting concerts are increasingly popular worldwide, as they engage the whole person long after the concert ends. It is an honor to expand the live painting scene in San Miguel de Allende in tribute to Mexican women creators who often do not receive the recognition they deserve.”
In a live painting concert, the painter visually interprets the emotions of the music in real time. The audience experiences a deeper connection to the music as they watch it emerge from both the performers and the artist’s canvas.
For community marketing partner Michelle Wedderburn, founder of Casa Elm, Hacienda Elm, and BlackSMA, “This concert is another way the arts help us create lasting memories of beauty that enhance the quality of life in San Miguel for all of us. We invite everyone to experience Jackie and Claudia’s magical artistry.”
Dr. Copeland’s global nonprofit organization, The WISE Fund, sponsor of Living Arts, will donate net proceeds after expenses to orphanages in San Miguel de Allende.
Tickets are $500 MXN plus a 12% service fee. To purchase tickets and learn more about the event’s artists, visit https://unshow.art/living-arts/.
