Teatro Ángela Peralta
Presenta:
Cuba & Danzón – The elegance of danzón and the flavor of Cuba in an unforgettable night
The Teatro Ángela Peralta fills with rhythm, history, and elegance with Cuba & Danzón, an evening dedicated to one of the most emblematic musical genres of the Caribbean. This concert celebrates the Cuban musical tradition with a vibrant performance that transports the audience to the dance halls of Havana and Matanzas.
Danzón, considered the national dance of Cuba, was created in 1879 by Miguel Failde in Matanzas. This elegant and graceful genre evolved from the contradanza and the habanera, distinguished by its refined musical structure and the prominent use of wind instruments, violins, and rich Cuban percussion. Over the years, danzón became a fundamental expression of Cuban culture and the foundation for other iconic Caribbean rhythms, directly influencing styles such as mambo and cha-cha-chá.
In this special performance, an ensemble of outstanding musicians will present a repertoire that honors this musical tradition with passion, virtuosity, and authenticity:
Ricardo Benítez — flute
Pedro Cartas — violin
Alfred Thompson — piano
David Barrera — double bass
Víctor Miranda — percussion
Dairon Vázquez — percussion and vocals
A sophisticated musical experience that blends history, rhythm, and elegance, inviting audiences to discover the cultural richness of Cuba through one of its most influential genres.
